❄ Ice Plunge Breathwork · facilitator in training

The cold is not the enemy. Your breath is the bridge.

Guided ice immersion and conscious breathing with Andra. We don’t fight the cold, we learn to meet it calmly, one long exhale at a time, and we carry that calm back into everyday life.

Why the breath

The one part of your nervous system you can steer by choice.

Your heart, your digestion and your stress response run on their own. Your breath runs on its own too, until you decide to guide it. That is what makes it so powerful: every inhale gently lifts your energy, every exhale invites your body to soften. Learn to lead the breath and you learn to lead your state.

Breathing high in the chest

Fast & shallow

  • Quick, effortful breaths
  • Keeps the body on alert
  • Often what stress looks like from the outside
  • Leaves you tired and tense
Breathing low, from the diaphragm

Slow & deep

  • The diaphragm drops like a soft parachute
  • Belly and ribs expand, the chest stays calm
  • Signals safety to the whole body
  • Clarity, steadiness and real rest

Breathe with me · 1 minute

The reset breath

A double inhale through the nose, a short pause, and one long, slow exhale through the mouth. Two or three rounds before the ice, before a hard conversation, before sleep. Follow the light.

Three paths, one bridge

Three ways to work with the breath.

The yogic breath

Pranayama

Direct & balance.

From the ancient yoga tradition: slow, precise breathing with gentle pauses, practised seated and still, to gather energy and focus the mind.

Feels like
Clarity, balance, presence
Tools
Alternate-nostril, ocean breath, humming breath
The transformative breath

Breathwork

Let go & allow.

A modern practice that blends old wisdom with today’s understanding of the body: fuller, connected breathing, often lying down, to release held tension and emotion.

Feels like
Release, expansion, lightness
Tools
Connected breathing, guided journeys
The art of holding

Breath-holds

Adapt & stay calm.

Inspired by freediving: calm, controlled holds on land that teach the body to stay relaxed when air is short, building steadiness and resilience.

Feels like
Calm, focus, endurance
Tools
Gentle holds, slow recovery breaths

No path is better than another. Each one serves a different moment of your life.

The rhythms of the mind

Your brain changes its rhythm all day long.

Your mind moves through different rhythms, from deep rest to sharp focus. Breath, movement, music, nature and good sleep are some of the simplest ways to guide which rhythm you live in.

DeltaDeep rest

Dreamless sleep and deep restoration, when the body repairs itself.

ThetaDreaming · intuition

Meditation, imagination and creative flow, close to the subconscious.

AlphaCalm awareness

Relaxed and awake: eyes closed, slow breathing, the state breathwork invites.

BetaActive focus

Thinking, deciding, solving: useful, but tiring when it never switches off.

GammaIntegration

Moments of insight and heightened awareness, when everything connects.

The ice

Cold as a teacher, not a punishment.

An ice plunge is a short, guided exposure to cold water. In the first seconds the body wants to gasp and rush; with the breath we choose a different answer. Afterwards comes the part people remember: warmth spreading through the body, clarity, and a quiet sense of “I can do hard things.”

<15°Water this cool already counts as cold exposure. A gentle place to begin.
<8°A true ice bath. Always guided, always with a calm breath.
~2 minShort and intentional is enough. More is not better; calm is better.

Energy & focus

Many people feel alert, uplifted and clear for hours afterwards.

Calm under pressure

Staying soft in the cold trains you to stay soft in stressful moments.

Recovery

A favourite ritual after dancing or training, to help the body feel lighter.

Deeper rest

Many find they sleep more deeply on the days they plunge.

Resilience

Each plunge is a small, chosen step out of your comfort zone.

Confidence

The feeling of meeting something hard, and breathing through it.

A session with Andra

From the first breath to the last exhale.

01 · Arrive

Ground & open the circle

We arrive, slow down and set an intention. The circle opens with a short grounding ritual and a drop of oil.

02 · Reset

The reset breath

Two or three rounds of the double inhale and long exhale, together, to bring the nervous system down before the cold.

03 · Enter

Slowly into the water

Step by step, with a long exhale as the water reaches the chest. The first gasp is normal; we meet it with calm.

04 · Stay

Breathe through it

Breathing through the nose, every exhale longer than the inhale. If the nose is too much, in through the nose and out through the mouth. Slow is strong.

05 · Return

Out, warm, move

One last long exhale, then towels, warmth and gentle pelvic movement to bring the heat back into the body.

06 · Integrate

Share & close

A quiet moment to feel what changed, a few words in the circle, and a closing ritual. What you practised in the water comes home with you.

What you are really training

Not the cold. Your response to life.

Your nervous system

Moving smoothly between alert and calm, instead of getting stuck in stress.

Your flexibility

A body that adapts, reflected in the gentle variation between heartbeats. Slow breathing supports it.

Heart, gut & mind

The breath links the three, through the long nerve that carries calm from the brain to the belly.

Your new pathways

Repeat a calm response with focus and feeling, and it becomes who you are. The brain keeps learning.

Ways to practise

Safety first, always

  • Never practise breath-holds in or under water.
  • No fast, forced breathing right before entering the cold.
  • Never alone: cold water is always practised guided or with someone present.
  • If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, epilepsy, Raynaud’s, a recent illness, or are pregnant, speak with your doctor first.
  • Listen to your body. Leaving early is part of the practice, not a failure.
  • Breathwork and ice are wellness practices, not a replacement for medical care.
